- Construct rain guage and evaporation pan
- Collect data over the course of two months [Feb 20- Apr 26]
- Put data on excel spreadsheet
- To make the evaporation data accurate, subtract the measured amount of rain from the measured amount of evaporation from the pan.
- Average the measured and corrected evaporation date for days when no measurements were made [note that the pan and gauge were emptied after measurement], this step leads to a more fluid dataset that makes more sense - it doesn't make sense when the data shows one inch of evaporation one day then none the previous three days. So this step would average the corrected for precipitation one inch over the three days, for a rate of 1/3 inch evaporation per day.
- Graph the corrected, averaged evaporation amounts.
- Look at graph and enjoy. This graph is of the amount of water evaporated of the pan per day over the two month period of data collection.
- Compare the evaporation graph to a chart or table of temperature or windspeed.

ENS 396 Hydrology
