I took a trip to Ikea
After 7:00 am soccer fun, I had time to stop at an Ikea store in Canton. The parking lot is arranged like a mall - large lettered signs tell you how to get back to your car. You walk in and there is a "cafe". First impression was that it's a mix between Sears, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Costco. There is a little cafe where they serve 50 cent hot dogs, cinnamon buns, coffee and soft drinks. There is also a recycling center. Tons of people running around. Everyone looking like excited Chinese tourists - it was like we were all in this adventure together, winding through the store, picking up $1.50 rugs and $1.00 measuring cups. Overall, it was interesting mostly because of the experience of being excited about a foreign store in America. The quality of the store was not great- there was enough "Wal-Mart" to satisfy bargain shoppers. Also the Swedish imports (meatballs, cookies) were sort of lame. One fun thing: umbrellas cost five dollars, however when it rains they cost four dollars - and today it was raining.
