The Israelis

An article in the Economist talked about how many Europeans, and others, view Americans as "lacking an appropriately tragic worldview", and when I read that at camp it was like, pardon? But now that I think of the way that the Israeli staff at Camp Tawonga dressed up so well for Shabbat every single Friday - there's something to that, something in the way they do put themselves out there for everyone. At least, that was the experience at the camp.
