Camp can be this way, when somebody borrowed the card reader from my box, which means the Shabbat photos aren't up. Is this type of thing frustrating? Sort of. Is it not a big deal and it's a part of being here? Sure.
Last night was interesting. At 10:30 there was Oneg in the dining hall, and Jamie (one of the directors of CT) announced, "This is not a situation yet, but there is a camper missing in one of the cabins. We will need twenty-five volunteers to gather here, while we discuss a plan of action, be ready to begin the search in fifteen minutes."
Around 11:00 in the dining hall we heard over the radios, "We found the camper - he is under the cabin." All the search teams were called back, they got the kid, his counselors are both great counselors, had to talk for ever with him and meet and call parents and blah, that is an eventful start of Shabbat. I'm ready to move on from camp, but there's too much to miss here. The type of situation from last night makes everything so different, and seeing things from how camp may be for some of the kids, or for the directors, and then how it is for us as counselors, and what life will be like at home or school again. I miss being with family, too.
