Riffing on Facebook

(Introduction; the next two sentences will include the term "valuation" whose meaning I don't actually understand)

Facebook was valued at $ 15 billion USD. Microsoft invested two-hundred forty million dollars, or 1.6 % of that valuation, to have a stake in the burgeoning advertising space on the facebook website.

In order to continually be worth it, facebook should be intelligent "platform" that facebook created for developers to create programs. As one example, when users sign up for an application, they're given the choice to send invitations to their friends to also add the application. So by checking a box you can send essentially spam email to all of your friends on the site. It makes facebook less valuable when you're receiving an "invite" a day to try a new "Zombie Bite" app.

A simple solution: The application says choose twenty people to invite. With this limit people sending and receiving all the invites and pirate attacks or whatever will have a bit more substance and meaning to both parties.
