I do believe in Mr. Barack Obama, huzzah

The Obama speech from today is now playing on C-SPAN, and this line roused me to attention:

For the African-American community, that path means embracing the burdens of our past without becoming victims of our past.

Not sure why except that it's a very human notion, I think, not just for African-Americans but for Jews like myself, and for everyone else for different reasons too.
